Daughter Cafe
Case Studies

Creative Process and Strategy
My creative process began with spending time in the café without my camera, observing how natural light moved through the space, how staff and customers interacted, and how the environment organically fostered moments of connection.
Using natural light and a warm, earthy color palette, I adopted an observational style that captured candid interactions, curated interior details, and the quiet rituals of daily life—creating imagery that reflects both personal comfort and collective experience.
To communicate the space’s versatility, I intentionally framed shots that show how the café’s design and layout accommodate events like community gatherings and creative workshops. This approach helped craft a layered visual narrative that not only honors Daughter Cafe’s core values of hospitality and belonging but also demonstrates its potential as a vibrant, community-centered event venue.
Project Description/Goals
This project involved photographing Daughter Cafe to visually express the brand’s essence—welcoming, intentional, and deeply rooted in community. The goal was to capture the café’s inviting atmosphere through natural light, warm tones, and candid moments between staff and customers.

Outcome
Beyond showcasing its everyday charm, the project aimed to highlight the versatility of Daughter Cafe’s thoughtfully designed space as an ideal venue for intimate events, community gatherings, pop-ups, and creative workshops. The imagery supports brand storytelling and marketing by positioning the café as both a neighborhood hub and a multi-functional event space within the Crown Heights community.
Daughter’s brand identity was used across digital platforms, marketing, and future storytelling efforts.
